In 2007 I was honorably discharged from the Navy. I came home to go attend cooking school at the Art Institute of Houston. Which ended up actually being Media Arts + Animation. While in school I worked at a place called Picture People. One of the girls in particular that I worked with became a fast friend for me.
She was fabulous, and just the friend I needed when I came home. So one evening she decided she wanted to get a tattoo, she is deathly afraid of needles. Wanting to make a fun night of it, she called David and asked him to come out. With the thought of me being hot, which I was not, in mind he agreed.
We finally arrived at Sacred Heart in Houston. As we sat there waiting for our friend to get a tattoo, I noticed he was wearing a Cowboys hat. The football team, not an actual cowboy hat. Also can I insert, I am totally about to be lame here! My first ever comment to him was “So you like the cowboys?”
Totally lame right! I mean hide in a hole, lame. Clearly he was a fan, he was wearing the darn hat! Oh! Another fun tidbit! Because of the way I dressed and acted when I came home from the Navy, David thought I was gay. I honestly don’t remember what he said to me after. Obviously it wasn’t so bad that we aren’t speaking!
After our friend chickened out and bought her sister a tattoo instead, we headed to her sisters house. A night filled with drinking, yes we were not supposed to be, shhh…, and truth or dare. This was September of 2007.
For my 21st Birthday David bought me the special edition of Sweeney Todd. He was staying over at my house for the weekend, to celebrate my birthday. As we were watching the movie, I asked something in regards to us. His response was… wait for it.. “I’ll give you a try.”
No joke, that is how we became boyfriend and girlfriend. We shared the worst kiss either of us have ever had, officially becoming a couple. It was one of the best presents I have ever received! Our relationship has definitely been tested.
Even at the beginning we had bets going against how long we would stay together. We have defied them all! Our relationship is as strong as ever! Probably because we were both so awkward towards each other in the beginning, nothing can hold us back now!
The wedding day can be super stressful, as everyone is running around trying to get ready. Well today I have 4 helpful tips to help you have a relaxing wedding day! Everyone’s wedding day should be as relaxing and drama free as possible!
One of the first places to turn to after you get engaged is Pinterest! I totally get it! However before you get lost in all the fabulous webs of Pinterest talk out your wedding together. This is the perfect time to discuss all the things you want in your wedding day! The theme, or style, food, colors, everything.
Once you have a solid idea of what you both want, you can jump on Pinterest to help gather ideas! Keep in mind that everything that is on Pinterest is most likely going to be last season. Even though it will be last season it’s still a fabulous way of gathering ideas!
Make this both of your wedding. Remember that this is just as much as his wedding as it is yours, so he needs to feel included! He needs to feel like his opinion matters! I truly believe that if the groom felt more included he would actually want to help with the planning! Scary… but some might even find it fun!
There is nothing wrong with having your own family portrait list! Your photographer usually has a basic break down already, but they would appreciate the list non the less! Something to keep in mind is the more breakdowns you want the longer the portrait time will take.
Use family names for groups and each persons individual name! That allows the photographer to call out the persons name, which can help move things along faster! It’s best to make two copies of this list. Give one to the best man, and the other to the maid of honor, that way you don’t have to worry about it the day of!
The biggest tip I can share with you though is to have at least one designated person to handle all the little tedious things. Pick a person for family and friends to go to when things go wrong. They mean well, but they don’t always understand how stressful it is to hear everything that is going wrong. If the problem can be fixed without it getting to you or your soon to be spouse, then it will leave you stress free… and better yet unknowing!
After the wedding unless initiated by you or your spouse family and friends should keep what they thought went wrong unspoken. I have seen and experienced first hand what it feels like when people talk about weddings afterwards, and it can be disappointing, and depressing.
You don’t need to know everything that goes wrong at your wedding! You only need to worry about looking fabulous, and marrying the one you love! It’s going to be fabulous and you should enjoy every minute of it.
I was listening to Chase Holfelder’s Kiss the Girl today, and I had the crazy thought! I’m going to do a post on the Disney Princes I like! Weird? Too weird? Ok, ok, I promise I will do one on the princesses too! It’s just the princes are so much more fun! What girl, or even, guy, doesn’t like Disney Princes?
So I am going to start off with one huge, huge, thing. This is only real princes! Not ones that become a prince at a later time! Straight up old fashioned, the men we all grew up with princes! Cool? Sweet, let’s get started!
Right off the bat, I have to say that my absolute favorite is Prince Eric! I have always loved Prince Eric! Since I was a little girl, despite the fact that Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie. If I remember correctly that is when I developed my love for tall, dark, and handsome! Granted my fabulous hubby, David, doesn’t have dark hair. However he would look just as amazing with dark hair, and his steel blue eyes would pop that much more!
Sorry, tangent… back on track now!
Really, it isn’t even the fact that he’s the best looking, in my opinion. But the way he treated her, and would do anything for her. I wanted that when I grew up. He knew what he wanted from the beginning, and there wasn’t anything taking it away from him! Well… yes I know the stupid sea witch… but that doesn’t count! She cheated!
My second Favorite is Prince Phillip! Pretty much the same boat as Prince Eric! Although he was betrothed to Aurora when they were little, they did fall for each other, and he was most definitely not about to lose her. However I wish they would have allowed him to talk a bit more towards the end of the film. Maybe it was because he was out of breath?
My top favorites really end there! Lol, I know I am picky! It’s totally okay if you don’t agree with me! I’ll tell you a little secret though… my least favorite prince… the one from Beauty and the Beast! In all honesty I am not sure why he is my least favorite, I liked him as beast but that’s it!
Prince Prince Charming
Prince Adam (Beast)
**Since that’s all the actual princes, we’ll go ahead and list the rest of the “princes”**
John Smith (totally not a prince!)
Eugene (Flynn Rider)
Do you agree or disagree with my list? Who is your favorite prince, and who else is on your list? What do you think of Disney making princes out of men that aren’t princes?

It’s honest hour here at KGP! Last week was a little crazy, and I am going to share exactly why I was a little absent, and when life gets real! As I have mentioned before we moved from Houston to Seattle, re-branded, re-named, and re-launched our business of 7 years in our new city! It basically means, we are starting over from square one. Let me tell you it is hard, but completely worth it!
Since moving to Seattle we have had so many blessings! Starting with the snow fall just after we moved here, and David getting a job with the property company we live in, a major blessing there! Unfortunately that alone has not been enough for us to live on, get by, or even be able to enjoy our new city! Let me be honest, it has been rough!
When life gets real for us… it means I am living off bagels and David is living off ramen. I’m sure you don’t need/want to hear all the little details of the last six months. Let’s just say it’s been a struggle! A struggle that we gladly have been working through because we love it here so much! We know we’re meant to live here, and that the road is not going to be easy. If it was easy, everyone would do it.
Now, back to the reason I was absent last week! I started a new day job! It’s perfect! I was really beginning to think there wasn’t a job with hours that would work perfectly! Most of the time I only work in the AM. I have the entire afternoon and evening to continue networking, and being with my lovely couples! It’s a dream come true, and for once, not to good to be true!
Now that training is over with, and the new schedule has been figured out. I can get back to what I love the most! You! I have so big plans, one being a guest writer!
